Seriously, the search process really IS the same, but there are some key elements for consideration if you are to find the partner who offers the best fit.
First you must determine the non-negotiables. What type of firm WON'T you work with? What type of firm would provide you the best all around solution? With what type of people do you generally surround yourself? Chemistry is very important. You must feel an innate sense of trust - as much work will be done "behind the scenes" and many dollars will be committed - and you want to be darn sure that the team you've entrusted with this responsibility is representing you, your company and, most importantly, your customers and prospects in the most effective way possible.
